@dimasdeleon83 Hi. Unfortunately, I’m not sure. This is the first time I’ve heard of the word “anhydrous” (I learn something new everyday LOL). So you may want to do a search and find out more before you use it.
Hi I bought glycerin that has 99.5 and Anhydrous…is that safe for hair and scalp??
@DaRealSinceer Yes, pure vegetable glycerin is used as a sweetener alternative by some. I don’t think it will attract ants to hair because that hasn’t been my experience. Try it out for yourself and see how it works for you and your hair.
Ehow describes glycerin as very sweet or sweet tasting. I want to try it on my hair but I am not interested in attracting ants. Is it something that will attract them
@Buritsu Thanks for sharing your ideas.
@thiskewluser I have seen it in natural food stores and also some hair stores too. Try those out :3
@kamorsue I have not used regular glycerin, so I don’t know what results I would have on my hair. I’ve only used vegetable glycerin. If you use regular glycerin, please come back and let me know your results.
@sjohnson3501 Hi, Sandra. IMHO, sealing your ends with your favorite oil (I like EVOO, but some like EVCO too and I’ve heard a 50/50 mix is good too) is always a good thing. Vegetable glycerin is derived from vegetable oil, so it is like an oil/water mix to me. You can only know what you like to do with your hair. I guess my hair is mainly 4b, but I would say, “I have a lot of Afro, highly -textured, tightly-coiled, fine hair”, I’m just sayin’ LOL.
@missffreedom2000 “Where is it derived from? Mainly now from vegetable oil but can also be made from fossil fuel and animal fat”
To answer your question, “No difference. One specifies how the glycerin was made. Glycerol is however the undiluted form of glycerin but is quite a specialist product (i.e bought from a lab supplier not on the shop shelf)” ~ source: The Natural Haven blogspot
IMHO, you can use whatever you want on your hair. I use vegetable glycerin because I know what’s in it.
Whats the difference between vegetable glycerine and pure glycerin? I can’t seem to find the veg one so I am thinking of just using the pure one…
@roninmd Thanks for the information.
Food Grade glycerin has the letters USP. So it’s safe to eat. Some use it in nutrition bars because of it’s low glycemic index. Glycerin at the pharmacy aisle is usually USP grade. What you don’t want is the glycerin derived from petroleum. It is used in fog machines and sometimes smells like diesel.
will regular glcerine do as well
Hi, my name is Sandra and this Saturday November 13th, 2010 I will be 2 months with a small TWA. On the VG mix, do I have to seal it with an oil or just use it as it. I love your video, be blessed. Also my hair type is 4B, whats yours?
@JustUploadingVideos You’re welcome.
@BargainClipper thankyou
@JustUploadingVideos The verdict is still out on using “normal” glycerin. I don’t use glycerin that’s from the drug/pharmacy aisle for a number of reasons. I use veg. glycerin(e) as stated in my comments below; please read them. Also you’ll find more information on how to use this veg. glycerin spray in the winter in my “Seal in the Moisture” video. I have used this spray in the colder and winter months with no problem with my hair. Please do your own research on what may work for your hair.
Can you use normal glyerin? And can u use it in colder climates?
@true2daeyes You’re welcome and that’s great!
thx for the vid! I know just were I can get the veg glycerin.
@backwardness Someone asked me a question like this in the comments below. And I said and still feel the way, “… I know vegetable glycerin has to be stored out of direct sunlight because it is a colored bottle. When making the vegetable glycerin spray as instructed in my video, I store mine in the refrigerator to “preserve” it since it is altered by making the spray, but storing it in the refrigerator is optional.”
Why do you store it in a fridge?
@Caphale1 Exactly
! Again, thanks for sharing your insightful comments and experiences.
@BargainClipper Sure, no problem! I had this question too before I bought them. No sense having other people buy both when one does the job.
@Caphale1 Thank you for sharing your experiences with both vegetable glycerin and glycerin that you can find in the drugstore. I’m sure many others will appreciate your comment.
