@Winteel
I paid $9.99 for a boneless so at 5.5 lbs. is cost me about $55.00 but it definitely worth every bite.
I also sautéed mushrooms in real butter and placed a few on each prime rib cut to highlight the Alfredo mushroom sauce. Finally, to wash down this masterpiece I chose a young Cabernet (2009) and it worked beautifully. I might add that the horseradish sauce was a superb compliment to the meal.
My roast was 5.5 lbs. and 120 degrees provided the perfect medium rare result. The added benefit is leftovers. So, again, thank you for your guidance and instruction.
I want to sincerely thank you for your video that made my Valentine’s present to my wife of 20 years a huge success, a home run, a definite grand slam. She was, to say the least, extremely impressed and pleased.
I followed your instructions exactly however, I substituted pea pods for fresh steamed asparagus tips (about 4 inches long) smothered with a mushroom Alfredo sauce (Bertolli’s) and lightly topped with parmesan cheese (Sargento shredded).
@cookingfordads XD
@xXxShadow431xXx like
Optimus Prime’s Rib.
@Winteel You want ti to be red, rats, not sure what to do there. I’d take the roast out, depending on it’s size 2 to 3 hours before cooking. take a pic and send it to me. Good luck
@Winteel Sometimes I’ve seen it as low as $4 a pound, but normally it’s closer to $8 or $9. I’m not a big fan of freezing meat does too much damage.. It’s really hard to get your roast up to just room temp normally (which you should do) much less if it’s freezing. It’s a great dish to serve, your family will love you. Just be sure to watch the internal temp. Take it out at 120.
oh and my meat was not as red as yours. I questioned the butcher abut this and he said that its because of the refridge they use and it’s fine. idk. he advised me to ckean seasln then leave in fridge not freezer ad take out and leave at room temp for an hour before cooking. please help.
first time buying a prince rib and it cost me $ 70! how much should a orime rib be per lb? I went to meat market expecting to so end $30. I cut my meat in had and out in freezer bag. I want to cook the other half for valentines r Easter. good our bad idea? please help. first timer. I wanted to surprise my small family with something different for new years
@KillinDaWelfareMCs It dosen’t matter what size….Just equil portions…..actually portions don’t really matter….I put more horseraddish than he recomends….
@KillinDaWelfareMCs Grab a spoonful from your silverware drawer and get a scoop of horseradish with it. watch the video.
one normal spoonful of horse radish? lol WTF is a normals spoon? There are 2 kinds of normal spoons. One is called a teaspoon the other a tablespoon.
@tmc300 I haven’t had much luck with the microwave, it tends to make the meat tough, put it in foil and heat at 300 until warm. Makes great sandwiches.
@TheJDub1228 there’s always next year. I’d actually advice 117, but who’s counting.
taking the roast out at 120 is perfect. I followed the directions of another video on youtube that said to take it out at 130. I was pretty much serving beef jerkey to my guests. Wish I followed your video instead
If you don’t finish the whole prime rib during dinner, what’s the best way to warm it up the next day? Do you warm it up in the oven? If so, at what temperature?
Or do you warm it up in the microwave?
Overcooked man….
@cookingfordads I try to stress that in the comments and in the video. Sorry it didn’t turn out better for you. I’ve had thousands for whom it did work perfectly.
@DLWhiting Sorry it didn’t’ work better for you. I try to stress the importance of watching the internal temp. There are too many variables - the temp of your oven and more importantly the starting temp of your roast.If you take it right out of the fridge, it will take longer, if you bring it to room temp first, it will cook faster. These are things I can only guide you with and can’t control.
Cooked 10 lb prime rib at 450 for 10 min then at 325 for 20 min a pound per your instructions. Checked half hour early and meat was at 150 and well done. Thanks for helping ruin my Christmas dinner.
@dirtystockbird2 check the link I just put in the description, but if you have it on the counter to bring to room temp for a couple hours, it should be just under 2 hours. don’t forget to let it rest for 10 minutes. Take a pic and send it to me. Thanks for the nice comment.
Rob – Here I am for the fourth year as a refresher. Cooking prime rib is the highlight of our holidays now and this is where I learned how. Simple process you laid out.I have 1 question on the “20 minutes for every pound” If the bone tied to the rib, should we estimate the rib weight and reduce the time? My roast weighs 10.81 lbs (with rib). Should I estimate and reduce by 1.5 pounds or so? I always watch the therm anyway, but like to gauge the time we are ready to serve the side dishes.
@ladapabr Cool, have a great one.
