@Pixyfun Hi. You get the answers to all of your questions by going to the GardenRack website and ordering the plans, instructions and two free ebooks.
sorry for all the questions lol Also what are the sizes? I see you have 4×4 and then are those 2×4 or 2×6
Also was the wood expensive?
Are those the large or the medium tubs?
@ShonitaMG You’re so welcome and thanks for your kind words.
That’s nice! That would be great for my mother in law. She’s elderly, and can’t really bend low and she misses gardening.
thanks for sharing!
@ILkaterlyn The plastic in the tubs is low density polyethelene (LDPE) — the same thing plastic food containers, plastic wrap, and juice and milk cartons are made from. According to Green Living, LDPE is safe and not known to leach any chemicals that are known to be carcinogens.
@ILkaterlyn The tubs aren’t above the Gardenrack where sun would get to them and bake them. You can also use perforated landscape fabric as a liner. Drainage is taken care of by drilling 9 holes in the bottom of each tub and then laying down an inch thick layer of pea gravel before filling with soil.
How do you know there isn’t thalide or something bad in the black tubs. I planted seedlings in them this year, but what about drainage? It can take years for cancer to come up, most of our neighbors have cancer, rural area.

@ortonmom – I don’t. I’ve been gardening in them for 10 years and haven’t had a problem. They can be lined with perforated landscape fabric as well.
do you worry about the toxic in the plastic ?
this is a great idea for older people who struggle, even those in wheelchairs could get involved. Thanks for posting this,i’m going to try this out at work.

you guys are funny ! i don’t see “how to ” in the title
Great system but your vid says “How to Build” and it certainly doesnt show any How to..at all…….that’s very misleading and a real turnoff
SPAM in the guise of a how-to.
I want to find out more about planting and growing hot dogs.
Perfect for deer, too! They won’t throw out their backs or strain their necks as they forage on my vegetables…

EarthElla, the soil in the beds is about 10-12 inches and I’ve been able to plant tomatoes, carrots, radishes, and scallions with great success.
MasasWife, thanks so much for your kind words.
dkim68, it really is. It’s about 15 feet by 15 feet and fits easily on balconies.
