Do It Yourself: Homemade Natural Hair Gel with Flaxseeds
*Re-Upload* Original Upload Date: April 30, 2010 This is an amazing natural hair gel LOaDEd with essential oils and nutrients. While other gets work against your hair, this one (from nature) works with it, to restore it’s healthy shine and add moisture back into the cuticles! I love the way it makes my hair and hands feel after applying it. And unlike other chemically processed gels, it doesn’t leave your hair rock hard, so you can comb it and restyle whenever you want, your hair just soaks it in and uses the nutrients…can you tell that I really love this stuff! @TikiTubeable Yes, after about two to three weeks (if refrigerated) it will start to smell bad. Sort of like rotten eggs; nothing you’d want to put in your hair!
Have you considered adding honey? It’s a humectant and a perservative.
What temp do you boil on? Low, mid or high? An for how long do you estimate?
Mine never comes out like that… TT-TT
Thanks for sharing this! It ain’t pretty to look at but it looks really healthy for the hair. I’m going to try it this month.
chea
how long can you use the same batch of flaxseeds?
@SocaRastaEmpress There’s no reason why it CAN’T be used on locs, especially if it’s natural. It doesn’t leave much buildup (if any that I can remember–haven’t made this in a while) and washes out fairly easy.
where do you get your oils? what it i put only olive oil and vitamin e in mine?
You can use your fingers IF you wear those thick rubber gloves… Nno prob. Thank you for this recipe!!!
I followed the recipe just as you have it on here, but mine didn’t make nearly as much as yours. Any suggestions on how you are able to yield so much gel out of the recipe?
Great video..out of interest is there any way that you would sell some of you recipes if you are compensated?
Oooh this so cool, does the gel itself have any properties good for your hair?
Nice vid!
Out of interest can this gel be used to retwist locs? My loctician used a gel from the root stimulator range (can’t remember what it’s called) but for me the more natural the better?
Love it. I’ve GOT to.try this recipe
I just made my own gel. I came out. I am so impressed with myself. Thank you!
Nice…I tried it and it works. Thanks
I just did this however, I used flaxseed, coconut oil, almond oil and vitamin E. My kids helped me lol. They said “we’re doing science!”
flex seed gel is great I’ve used it too. After awhile tho the flex seeds do cool and its okay to use ur hands which really really helps
excellent recipe. I hope you don’t mind if i share it on facebook for others who are interested!
i use one of those metal strainers and the gel just goes right through it while leaving the seeds behind. it is so much easier than the pantyhose, try it out.
Sorry But, i aint a Scientist! ^_^
cool video, thx
Are you able to write out the recipe. So that we could know exact measurements.
Can you mix jojoba oil in the gel too?
