Beekeepers MUST kill the adult small hive beetles before egg and larva stage. Larvae eat thru honey comb in search of bee pollen making honey leak and ferment,called sliming. Bees then abscond from hive leaving a sticky mess even other bees barely rob. To clean up I put boxes over ant mounds to begin removing crud,then a few days in the sun to dry up honey slime. This is going to be a major beekeeping problem if not controlled in states like Florida,Georgia,North South Carolina,Alabama,Mississippi,Tennessee and Louisiana. Other states Will get them,forget cold weather,they winter at edge of honeybee cluster just fine.

I set a beehive on fire the other day, watched the bastards squirm as i pooped on their carcasses oh how i love the sound as they die. Oh and nice vid btw this vid was alot cheaper then porn hub!

I’ve seen keepers just put the hives on a trough of water so ants and such can’t get into them.

Odd you don’t use an excluder. — are you running all those boxes for the honey flow only — how many do you winter with (not that you get a real bad winter there).

The ingredient in the bait he’s using is fipronil which is illegal to put into any honey bee colony. Wax, pollen, and honey from colonies in which bait containing fipronil have been used, just like the one John used, were found to contain fipronil. The next time you take a spoonful of honey or pollen, what else might you be consuming.

I use the screened bottom board with an oil pan underneath and it does work well for the majority of beetles. Sometimes when i work around the frames i see 2 or 3 hiding on the corners, kinda hard to control them without these little traps.
I might give these a shot although the situation on both of my hives seems under control.
