Baked Goat Cheese Appetizer with Fresh Tomato/Basil Salsa

We first tasted this at “The Keg” restaurant. I found a copycat recipe online and it is pretty close to the restaurant version. Salsa 1 large chopped tomato 3-4 basil leaves chopped 1/8-1/4 cup finely chopped red onion 1 clove minced garlic salt and pepper to taste 2 tbsp olive oil 2 tbsp red wine vinegar or balsamic vinegar Stir together, cover and chill Toast 1/4-1/2 cup sliced almonds in a saucepan or in the oven until light brown Coat goat cheese log/roll in egg white and coat with the almonds Baked cheese in a 325F oven for about 10 minutes. Served baked cheese with crackers, melba toast, baked bagel chips or baked pita chips and the salsa.

@valerienguyen362 well it’s up to her how much she wants to put on. Gosh don’t criticise!
I went to the keg and had this and then I needed to make it myself (since no one can eat at the keg more than once and a while!)
- thank you so much for the wonderfully done video!
i would nvr put dat much cheese on one cracker like dat, i would spread a very thin layer of da cheese n put a few chunks of salsa, yep i make it last longer
hey dats da exact recipe i use for salsa, weird huh
@MrsRedAng This is one of my all time favourites Ang. Actually I have a small log of goat cheese in the fridge, will have to make some soon!
How come Ive never seen this one! NUMMY, going to make soon, thanks Tammy!
I made this for our Thanksgiving appetizer and the entire family went wild over it. I served it with a baguette, thinly sliced. Super easy to make and big hit with everyone!
@HypnoSwag Oh ya!
Nothin’ says lovin’ like a steaming hunk of goat cheese. D:
@msgalea There is no way that it is cheaper to go to the Keg than to make this at home.
@yoyomax12 However, it would cost you at least 8 buck to go and buy all the ingredients, I prefer the toasted mini french bread slices the Keg serves. It does look really good though, and I will definitely make this at home.
@PepperBabe This recipe actually taste remarkably close to the Keg recipe!
Yummy!
I had some at The Keg too, and have been dreaming of it ever since!! thank you so so much for sharing!
OMG that looks so fancy and delicious! This i’m gonna try aswell. My mom would LOVE this. I must make it (or attempt to make it) for her!
@yoyomax12 This looked so good that I plan on making it on Easter!! I haven’t found the goat cheese or fresh basil yet but I’m sure my other grocery store will have it!!
@yoyomax12 street markets here in England are amazing for breads, chutney and cheese you can find a lot i don’t know if you have very many of them but if you look in small towns when your out and about you might come across one
You got me going. I just picked some up yesterday, and I’ve eaten almost half of it without even doing anything with it yet. Jeez…
@aohmann You pay about 8 bucks for this at the Keg restaurant. This one is almost exactly like the restaurant version.
@imperceptibleme Have you every tried feta cheese? It is a bit like that but not as salty and the texture is creamier
@trvlbuggy Flavouring the cheese is an excellent idea! The salsa is quite flavourful in this recipe, so it balances the blander goat cheese well.
I’ve tasted a cranberry goat cheese before, delish!
@BRONXPEPE Thanks!
@darkroge This particular brand is pretty mild. There isn’t much choice at the grocery store here, I would love to try different varieties.
@wildheart5 The goat cheese is mild. It does taste a little like feta, but less salty and the consistency is closer to cream cheese
@lambokun Thanks@
